Sometimes, villains aren't needed. Brain triggers earlier tonight made me think of one of the worst movies I've ever seen... the All Dogs Go to Heaven version of A Christmas Carol. With a villain.

WTF? Scrooge has enough shit to deal with in his own self-destructive ways. Does he need to also defeat the evil demon-bitch-dog that wants to destroy Christmas forever?

This made me think of another worst-movie candidate... the Jim Carrey version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The Grinch, of course, is just a retelling of A Christmas Carol, and a fine and witty one. But the Jim Carrey take added... a villain. The Grinch had to save the townpeople from some asshole. It wasn't enough to simply return all their presents. GRAAAHGGH!

Luckily, we in the Twin Cities get to experience the greatest production ever... Klingon Christmas Carol, with the story told in the original Klingon (with subtitles). I highly recommend it to all my Minnesota peeps.
